As I grow older, I find that my health issues become so very important, yet today’s pharmaceuticals I’ve relied on in the past just don’t seem to work as they did when I was younger; worse, some of them I’ve found myself experiencing side effects that really take away from my quality of life… have you experienced that?
But getting my health back shouldn’t carry with such a heavy price to pay!!
In fact, I’ve been studying and researching ways to make for a better outcome for my present and future health.
I’ve changed what I eat, what I drink, what supplements make the most sense for me, and what dietary regimen will help me to lose weight, maintain a healthy body and mind, give me stamina to enjoy life, and a better longer life.
And I can’t help but imagine that you, my beloved reader, have those very same things in mind, whether they are still a notional set of thoughts and plans yet to be implemented or they have already active in your life.
Well, the one thing I’m determined to solve is the medicinal conundrum, and I’ve discovered a wealth of herbs, plants and fungi, all wonderfully situated literally around me in my neighborhood, that have begun to deliver me from the nasty side effects that my previous lab-concocted medicines have loosed on me.
Stay with me as I reveal these wonderful bringers of health and wellness, many of which most likely are in your own neighborhood!
The beginning of springtime used to be object of dread for me. Not the beautiful unfolding of creation’s bountiful flora, but the relentless onslaught of pollen and its deleterious effect on my ability to breathe!
Sometimes, it would be so bad, I would find myself gasping for a simple breath, I would lose sleep simply because to lie down was to invite horrible congestion that inevitably led to chronic upper respiratory infections, and I simply would have no energy because of the first two issues I just mentioned.
Then, I discovered, literally right around the corner from my house, a vast patch of purplish, what I had until recently thought was weeds, but in fact is the cure to my seasonal allergies!! What a dream come true!
Prior to this, all I could look forward to was a double regimen of steroids and a small grocery bag of pharmaceutical palliatives, cough medicines, antihistamines, you name it!
But with this newfound plant, new to me at the time, at least, I found a wonderful relief … without the side effects that normally came with medicine!
What is the plant? Yep, you guessed it from my heading… Purple Dead Nettle!
I would simply pinch off the top part of the plant (about five or so), dry them in a cookie sheet in the oven at 170°F for an hour or two, then when they were cooked off, I’d crush them between my fingers and place the crushed tops into an infuser and add to a cup of hot, but not boiling, water. After ten minutes or so, I had a tea that brought me almost immediate relief! My sinuses were open and I could breathe!
What’s not to like about that, right?
if you have the same seasonal allergy symptoms I had, give this fantastic plant a try! The tea has an earthy taste, which I don’t mind, but I do add a bit of sweet leaf stevia for just a bit of sweetness and I’m good to go for hours!
There's going to much more to see here, soon. So, please, be sure to bookmark my site, and return to learn all there is to know about the plants around you and me. I hope you enjoy what I share here … more to come!!.
